"Flower Market"

Kait and I strolled through The Carriage Shoppes this afternoon. I found a back issue of Country Homes I just HAD to have. It cost me a whopping $0.54. Be still my beating heart! You know how I am with a bargain! And MAGAZINES?!?!? I love them for the design ideas and of course the recipes. This one was no exception. I think Robert just might be oh so proud of me for getting out of that antiques mall for less than a dollar!

On our way out the door, I saw this amazing display of color and light. I had to snap it.

"The Bathroom Floor"

The rug came out of the dryer so warm and fluffy. I shook it as I carried it back to the bathroom. I opened the door and flopped it into place on the floor. The light was shining through the frosted glass window and bounced around the small room so perfectly off the white tile floor and the white porcelain tub. I know it may sound funny, but this scene struck me as one of beauty. I ran for my camera before the light changed too much.

"Poetry Clouds"

These are the kinds of clouds that make me wish they could be a playground of sorts....wouldn't it be fun to jump on them and float in the air? If you could land in a pile of fluff like this, wouldn't you want to learn to do backflips?

"Cracker Barrel Quincy"

I had to drive to Colorado Springs today to take care of an errand. I asked Quincy, "So, what sounds good for lunch?" I was thinking something quick and driver-thru-ish, but he had something different in mind.

"Hey! Do you remember that wooden place? You know? The one that has that barrel?"

Immediately, I knew he was talking about The Cracker Barrel.

We went in and sat down and ordered breakfast for lunch. I love breakfast food!

"Quincy's Snowman in May"

Ten inches of snow were in our forecast for today. We only got a couple...which is good. Normally, I LOVE snow. It makes everything feel so cozy indoors.

Last weekend, when we were at the thrift store, Quincy found a green snowball maker. He used it to make the snowballs to form this adorable little snow person. He knew the snowman would be more comfortable with a warm mama-made scarf.

May 12, 2010 106/365

Replacing the current light fixture meant I needed to move the hole in the drywall up about three inches. I needed to replace drywall, too. I felt so handy when I completed this project. Needless to say, there wasn't a lot of time for fun photography....so....this is the picture for today. :)

May 11, 2010 105/365

If I ever need a little inspiration, I love to go stroll through Park Meadows Mall. It really is a beautiful mall.

"I Am Blessed"

My children gave me a beautiful and wonder-FULL day. Thank you so much my beautiful babes! I love you more than swedish fish!

(I Am) "Blessed"
lyrics by Martina McBride

I get kissed by the sun each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughin'
Down the hall through the bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my front porch swing
Just soakin' up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place

I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

Across a crowded room
I know you know what I'm thinkin'
By the way I look at you
And when we're lying in the quiet
And no words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful gift

I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed

When I, When I'm singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
I know

I am so blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
I have been blessed oh yes
i have been blessed, oh yeah yeah
(i have been blessed, i have been blessed
i have been blessed i have been blessed)

"Goodwill Hunting"

The new Goodwill store opened today. I packed up the youngest of my babes and headed out to seek some new treasures. I had a feeling it was going to be super crazy!

I had no idea it would be as crowded as it was. The line to check out wrapped around the entire interior of the store.

I managed to stroll through each department that I like to shop....which is pretty much all of them! Then, when I had had my fill, I stood in line for nearly two hours just to to complete my purchase.

I almost put the carnival glass set back on a shelf. I wasn't sure where I would use it...I just knew I liked the look. I'm glad Karen convinced me it was a good price, because it looks even prettier in my house than it did on the shelf at the thrift store. The pink ceramic box for some reason made me think of my gramma.

"Bridge"

I went to the park again today. This time I was alone, but I still had time constraints. I had to go home sooner than I was ready......I love this little corner in the world.

"Size 13's"

Tickled Pink!

Photographing this tree wasn't exactly easy. The wind was blowing the branches every which way. This was a great experience, though, because the tree's fragrance was a special treat all by itself.

Jitter's Birthday

Today is my gigantic cat's first birthday!

I swear I heard Jitter whisper to me that he wanted Hello Kitty cupcakes for his birthday celebration! So that is exactly what he got!

"CELEBRATE!"

How can it possibly be that my Ry-Guy is 18 years old now? It seems like only yesterday, we sat on the "sidelines" of the dance studio while Amanda took ballet lessons. Ryan used to sit so quietly and patiently in my lap. Now, he's six feet and one inch tall...and the lap-sitting days are long gone.

Ryan really does not like me to take any photographs of him. Even if I do manage to get a picture of him, he stealthily picks up my camera when I'm not looking and deletes them! Turkey!

He asked for a peanut butter cake this birthday. It was extremely sweet and rich, but .... YUM! If you like peanut butter, you would love this cake.

Happy Birthday, Ryan! I love you and am so proud of you!

"Accidental Image"

In looking through my images, I discovered this one. I had to chuckle as it clearly was not intended, but there is something kind of pretty about it...the lace on the windows...the blue sky outside. the fan in the window....It seemed perfect for my photo of today!

"Ch-Ch-Change"

Change is good! After nine years of the same color on the walls in this room, I was ready for a little something different. And as I always say, "If some is good, then, more is better!" I felt like it was a pretty drastic change and was a little nervous at first, but upon completion of this project, the verdict is: "Mommy like!"

"Ukelele"

He plays a pretty mean ukelele....or is it that he plays the ukelele meanly?

Recently, I'd seen a little video clip of a little asian boy singing "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz while playing a ukelele. I giggled about that. When the video was over, I didn't think much more about it until the next day when I was at the thrift store. I found this ukelele for 3 bucks. I HAD TO HAVE IT! I called Quincy on my way home to tell him about my score. He was excited about it, too! So excited in fact that he waited outside in the driveway for me to arrive!

He loves to strum this little musical instrument and make up songs about life. It's quite entertaining!

The funny things is that noone here can resist the ukelele! If it is lying on the table or the counter or even the floor, everyone strums it. EVERYONE!

"27 (Million) Dresses"

Okay...so maybe that is an exaggeration! But it sure felt like Kait tried on that many dresses. I don't remember how many she actually tried on and I can't even remember how many stores we visited, but I can tell you I was so happy when Kait emerged from the fitting room and had that certain smile on her face when she knew she'd found the perfect dress. (More on that later. ;)

April 9, 2010 69/365

"Soaring"

This series of photos was interesting to capture! I flew the kite with my left hand while operating my camera with my right hand. I'm right-handed by nature...so the photography part was fine, but the kite-flying felt awkward!

"She Sells Seashells"

The mall can be a very dangerous place. I love Borders and Anthropologie. Usually, one or the other....sometimes even both stores get some o' my money!

April 7, 2010 67/365

"Abandoned"

This little rose caught my eye. I think it must have fallen out of someone's car...or maybe it was thrown? In any case, it made for a pretty little photo op!

Silk Tie Eggs

We dyed eggs this year Martha Stewart Style. I went to the thrift store and found a nice selections of 100% silk neck ties and cut them into sections big enough to go around and egg. Then we filled a pan with the silk-wrapped eggs and enough water to cover them, then added three tablespoons of vinegar. Boiled them for 20 minutes then unwrapped the eggs to discover these beauties.

When I told my sister of the process, she thought 20 minutes was too long....and it was. The yolks were green. Maybe next time, I'll boil the eggs for 10 minutes.

We enjoyed the fact that it was a different way to do this tradition and we really loved the designs on the eggshells.

"Basket O Eggs"

Our church hosted an easter egg hunt Today. We parked the truck in a parking spot and Quincy looked out the windshield and exclaimed, "Those eggs aren't HIDED!" He had fun collecting candy-filled eggs despite the cold wind!

April 2, 2010 62/365

"Ridin' Along In My Automobile"

We've just been to see the Easter Bunny at the mall. He was big and had big eyes. Quincy watched and watched that big bunny. Then turned to me and asked, "So mom? How does the Easter Bunny see?" I said, "With his eyes!?" Quincy watched the Easter Bunny some more then turned around to me to report "Mom? That Bunny isn't even blinking his eyes!"

Enjoy the magic while you can, My Sweet!

"Tea For Two"

Mom came to have tea with me at my house this morning. We talked a bit about snakes. My mother has a terrible fear of snakes. I reached over to Quincy's toy shelf and pulled this toy snake from one of the shelves and quietly placed it between our saucers. Needless to say, it wasn't her favorite anything!
